Rabbit Rally Box

Installing a Rabbit Rally system

TSD ‘Equipped Class’ permits the use of any navigational equipment.

I chose to install a Rabbit Rally Timing System which includes GPS-enabled hardware engineered to deliver highly accurate data in a user-friendly format.

The installation of the Rabbit Rally Timing System began with mounting the GPS receiver in the lower centre windshield of the Cayenne, ensuring optimal signal reception. The Rabbit box provides an on-off switch with an indicator light. Chris Renoson created a decal to obscure the unit when viewed from outside the car, giving a tidy appearance.

Once installed, the system creates a Wi-Fi signal to seamlessly interface the Rabbit box with the navigator’s tablet providing real-time data on speed, distance, and elapsed time.

The navigator’s tablet is on a removable mount on the dashboard.

During the rally the navigator can input data via the touch screen, or button pad mounted in the centre console.

A Quadlock suction mount secures a second screen displaying the navigator’s information to the driver.

The Rabbit system, button pad, and iPhone are hardwired to ensure constant power is available. When fully charged, the navigator’s tablet and second screen are able to last for the duration needed. This facilitates the removal of the navigation screens for regular driving.

For rallies using Richta scoring, an iPhone is mounted with a Quadlock on the centre dash
